*****Thanks to Mimi for rewriting the directions so they are easier to understand*****
Round 3 – Mimi Dillman, Snohomish, WA
*R 3-3-3-3; Cluny leaf (12 rep) join to picot of 1st chain of last Round (it has 1 p on it); Cluny leaf (12); R 3-3-3-3; Cluny leaf (12) join to middle p of next chain in prev Round; Leaf (12); R 3-3-3-3; Leaf (12); R 3-3-3-3; Leaf (12) join to middle picot of next chain of prev Round; Leaf (12); R 3-3-3-3; Leaf (12); join to middle picot of next chain of prev round; Leaf (12); R 3-3-3-3; Leaf (12); R 3-3-3-3; Leaf (12); join to middle picot of next chain in prev round; Leaf (12)* Repeat * to * twice, join last leaf to 1st ring and end off.
Round 4 – Pam Dotson, Everett, WA
*R 12-3-3-6; R 6+4-4-4-4-6; R 6+3-3-12; (Makes cloverleaf) Ch 12; RW, with shuttle thread from chain R 6+(join to side p on ring of prev round)6; R 6+(join to side p on next R of prev round)6; RW; Ch 12; Repeat from * joining 1st p on cloverleaf to last p of prev cloverleaf, except at corners.
Corner: Changes to pattern – make chains leading to corner 15 sts., instead of 12, and instead of the 2 small 6+6 rings make 1 ring of 4+4+4.
Additional corner motif added last – with a separate thread R 12+(join to last p of cloverleaf before corner)4-8; R 8-4-4-8; R 8-4+(join to 1st p of cloverleaf after corner)12;
Round 5 – Steph Peters, Manchester, England
Wind 2 shuttles, continuous thread method – Join to centre picot of middle ring of any trefoil of last round. *Cluny leaf (20 weavings to and fro); RW; R 4-4-4-4; Cluny leaf (20 reps); Join to centre picot of next middle trefoil ring from las round. Repeat from * ’till get to corner.
Corner – Repeat from * once but the join at the end is into first picot of outside corner ring of last round. Cluny leaf (12 rep); R 4-4-4-4; Cluny leaf (12 rep); Join to 3rd picot of outside corner ring of last round. Repeat from * to ther till meet up with where you started, join in same picot as first Cluny leaf of round and tie off.
(Cluny leaves use a lot of thread – I filled 2 Aero shuttles as full as possible but this was not enough to get all the way round without doing a tie off and rejoin. This should be done at a join to the last round.
Round 6 – Di Michelson, Findlay, OH
Wind 2 shuttles, CTM. Sh 1: R 4 ds, 2 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds join to right p of middle ring of top of doily, 4 ds, cl R, RW; Sh 1: Ch 4 ds, 2 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds, RW. Sh 1: R 4 ds, join to left p of middle ring (same ring), 4 ds, 2 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds, cl R, RW. Sh 1: Ch 4 ds, p, 4 ds. Split Ring: Sh 1: 4 ds, p, 4 ds, Sh 2: 4 ds, p, 4 ds, Cl R. Sh 1: Ch 4 ds, p, 4 ds. Rep around to corner. At the corner, increase ch’s which surround SR to 4 ds, 2 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds. And j SR with Sh 1 to middle p of corner R of prev. round. Continue around, join to base of 1st R. Tie and Cut.
