Violets. Make three.
It is important to note that all picots, with the exception of the center ring, are irregular in length to create the flower effect. You can make the picots the same length. It’s your flower.
Using violet thread, with shuttle and ball CTM, tat continuously from round to round, beginning at the center of the violet:
Center: Ring of 1-1-1-1-1-1 close ring. Create a mock picot (6th picot) using the lock stitch or by tying threads together.
Round 1: *CH 1-1-1-1 Join with shuttle thread to the next picot of center ring. Repeat * to * five times more.
Round 2: *CH 1-1-1-1-1-1 Join with shuttle thread to the top of the join of the previous round.* Repeat * to * five times more.
Round 3: *CH 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 Join with shuttle thread to the top of the join of the previous round.* Repeat * to * five times more.
Round 4: *CH 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 Join with shuttle thread to the top of the join of the previous round.* Repeat * to * five times more. Cut and tie.
Stems. Follow the diagram below for working order of the stems.
Using green thread, wind two shuttles continuous and join to any picot of the first violet. Cluny leaf (all cluny leaves are 12 wraps), join to any picot of second violet. Cluny, join to a picot of the first violet. Ch 15, cluny, join to a picot of the first violet, ch 12, join to any picot of third violet; cluny, join to base of the third cluny; ch 12, join to picot of second violet; cluny, join to third violet; split cluny. Leave weaving shuttle at the top of the leaf (do not cut at this time).
Add another thread to the weaving thread (shuttle at the top of the split cluny) and chain 6; join to second violet; chain 12-10-10-10-10-10.
Pick up thread at the base of the split cluny and add a thread (you might want to tat with a needle instead of a shuttle so that you can pull weaving thread through split clunies). Ch 12+5, split cluny pulling thread through core, split cluny pulling thread through core, 5+10+10+10+10. End with magic thread.
